The fiscal reform assumed by Romania through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan will not mean increases in taxes or fees in 2024, is the assurance offered by the state authorities of the business environment, at the "Developing Romania" economic forum, held yesterday, in the Capital.

The head of the executive, Marcel Ciolacu, said that a decision will have to be made regarding the maintenance of the single quota or the introduction of progressive taxation, and the president of the Senate, Nicolae Ciuca, pleaded for the reduction of bureaucracy in the administration.

Next year there will be no tax increases and changes, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu assures, who also spoke about the need for a tax reform that would create a fair competitive environment. He explained that a decision will have to be made regarding the maintenance of the single rate or the introduction of progressive taxation.

"At some point we will have to decide what is the best solution. We will maintain the single rate, but let it be a single rate, creating a fair competitive environment for everyone, without exceptions. Let's have a VAT that we don't increase or let's go to the progressive taxation zone", explained Marcel Ciolacu.

Reducing the bureaucracy and making the entire administrative process more flexible would be of great help to the business environment, said the PNL leader, Nicolae Ciuca, the president of the Senate. He showed that predictability, credibility and dialogue between political decision-makers, businessmen and civil society are needed for the development of the country.

"Let's find that formula from the Fiscal Code that is absolutely necessary, not only because it is passed in the NRRP, but which must be assumed by everyone, following some debates, following some analyses, in order to have medium-term applicability, as well as long-term", declared Nicolae Ciucă.
