Romania has suspended the payment of funds to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), the Foreign Ministry announced on Monday.

Romania joins a number of countries doing so, pending a full investigation into allegations that its employees were involved with Hamas attack on 7 October.

"We express our full confidence that the UN investigation will clarify the situation as soon as possible", the ministry said. "Until the investigation is completed, the ministry will not make any new voluntary contributions to UNRWA", the statement added.
